Who will be more successful: He who does it first, or he who does it best? or third option?

Fresh tools or fresh technique?

Before Napster, there *WAS* P2P MP3 sharing. Maybe it started on the IRC channels? Quite a clunky search (you had to type @search FILENAME and broadcast that search into one of many trading chat rooms. I found out about a lot of new music by watching what people were searching for.) It was pretty damn difficult for the lay user to share their files, let alone get into the community.

There's a great article about Quicken that quotes their CEO saying something to the effect of, "We weren't the first personal finance application - at the time we launched, there were 32 other commercially available options. But we WERE the first to get it right."

So, maybe.... Technique in tools?

Hi, I'm Zach. I grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated from Wake Forest. After college, I moved to Manhattan to get serious about a company I ran with friends. We sold it to Barry Diller's InterActiveCorp in 2006. I just wrapped up with a project I co-founded called Vimeo and left CV to focus on being a twenty-five year old.

I have another blog called Copy and Taste, where I post about learning to cook.

I live in Brooklyn now.
