Has anyone figured out inform.com? I haven't had the time, nor the IE browser, required to use it -- but the concept seems worthy.

Please share your experiences.

after a very quick run, I see that inform has potential, but in truth its just more of the same. What is does provide is a google news like page for viewing and flagging new stories that you wish to keep updated on. Also, they provide a "Hot Channels" page that pretty much reminds of yahoo's old school links-of-links.

To be fair I don't think its any better or worse in terms of available functionality than other rss feeds (inform says it "powerful set of tools to enhance your ability to find and digest large quantities of news content from the web" but who is to define content from cnn or a blog to be news or not; it's very subjective).

The interface leaves much to be desired (nothing too inventive), especially considering that the interface can make or break a web app these days. Still who knows, i'm just one user.

Cheers,
Pete

I agree with Pete. At what point is enough enough? When are people going to have so much information and news shoved down their throats that there is literally no time left for anything else? People can keep creating all the technologies and formats they want but eventually what are you doing besides reading headlines and jumping to conclusions over cursory examinations? Reading still takes time and unless your constantly replacing your mode of digesting it, it's going to be overload soon enough.

The fact that it doesn't work correctly with anything but IE6 is a dealbreaker. I loaded it in IE and inform.com does seem to provide a nicely organized way to find related news, but it's not nearly useful (or easy) enough to make it worth using.

I found it enjoyable to play around with, sort of the way it's fun to hit the "I'm feeling lucky button" on Google. You can get a whole bunch of newsfeeds for various topics, but it's all so random. I'm not sure I want an application like this if I'm doing some serious work. I'd like to feel more in charge of what sources I'm reading. But I'm going to sign up and play around some more with the advanced features.

Hi, I'm Zach. I grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated from Wake Forest. After college, I moved to Manhattan to get serious about a company I ran with friends. We sold it to Barry Diller's InterActiveCorp in 2006. I just wrapped up with a project I co-founded called Vimeo and left CV to focus on being a twenty-five year old.

I have another blog called Copy and Taste, where I post about learning to cook.

I live in Brooklyn now.
