When testing with IE, i recommend:

ieHTTPHeaders: see http headers being passed
http://www.blunck.info/iehttpheaders.html

IEDocMon: View the DOM of your current page
http://www.cheztabor.com/IEDocMon/

Full Source: View the whole rendered page (even JS rendered html)
http://www.thundermain.com/FullSource.html

Does firefox have the equals of these? I would like to know.

I'm not sure about all that, but I love firefox. It actually shows you what things look like.

Pete: The DOM Inspector does the same thing IEDocMon seems to do.

As for the HTTP headers.. The extension Zack linked to gives you the server's response headers. I haven't used that particular feature much though, it's a little clumsy.

I've been using this extension for some time now, and it does pretty much everything.. I like it for debugging complex CSS layouts.

It's a nice plug-in, but doesn't it open the door easily for someone else to steal you site design?

Yep! ... It's fine with me, as long as it means the Web will be overall better-designed!

Hi, I'm Zach. I grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated from Wake Forest. After college, I moved to Manhattan to get serious about a company I ran with friends. We sold it to Barry Diller's InterActiveCorp in 2006. I just wrapped up with a project I co-founded called Vimeo and left CV to focus on being a twenty-five year old.

I have another blog called Copy and Taste, where I post about learning to cook.

I live in Brooklyn now.
