Noah turned me on to photographer Alec Soth. His Sleeping by the Mississippi project is perfect. I was compelled to order the book.

A couple months ago i attended a lecture Alec Soth held for the Photo Alliance here in San Francisco. He showed us an mpeg that his friend shot of how he convinces his subjects to pose for him, when he runs into one on the street. Verbose and filled with animated gesticulations, his enthusiastic plea matches his fantastic photographic results- it made me rethink my often brief encounters and relationships with subjects on the street. Besides being a great photographer, he's quick to remind you he's an average guy who enjoys what he does- the lecture was inspiring. 7:03 PM Post a Comment |

We sold it to Barry Diller's InterActiveCorp in 2006. I just wrapped up with a project I co-founded called Vimeo and left CV to focus on being a twenty-five year old. I have another blog called Copy and Taste, where I post about learning to cook. I live in Brooklyn now.
