Soon to be the biggest movie in history
King Kong was incredible.

Fact: The Lord of the Rings trilogy cost Peter Jackson a total of around $300 million to make. King Kong cost him well over $200 million, not including his $200 $20 million director's fee which was paid up front.

I think that $200 million figure can't possibly be right.

I know it's on the IMDb trivia page but I don't think it's right.

According to Peter Jackson's Wikipedia page, he is getting 20 million against a 20% take of the total box office gross.

There's too much King Kong hype online to dig through to find another source right now, but that does sound a lot more reasonable.

Hi, I'm Zach. I grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated from Wake Forest. After college, I moved to Manhattan to get serious about a company I ran with friends. We sold it to Barry Diller's InterActiveCorp in 2006. I just wrapped up with a project I co-founded called Vimeo and left CV to focus on being a twenty-five year old.

I have another blog called Copy and Taste, where I post about learning to cook.

I live in Brooklyn now.
