 20060503 I'm Reed Fish
 I saw I'm Reed Fish last night at the Tribeca Film Festival. It's a feel-good film featuring a unique narrative and perfect casting, making it charming, funny and, ultimately, a joy to watch. Reed Fish stars Jay Baruchel from Undeclared, Alexis Bledel from Gilmore Girls, Schuyler Fisk from Orange County, DJ Qualls from Road Trip, and Katey Sagal from Married with Children. There is one more showing tonight, 9:30, at AMC Loews on 34th Street. For more details, including the full cast listing and trailer, see its official festival page. PS. One character, played by Schuyler Fisk, is a struggling musician -- and in one scene she plays a song she wrote at a bar talent show. I didn't think the actress was singing herself, and I actually thought the voice-over was obvious. But, as it turns out, Schuyler Fisk is an actual singer/songwriter and she made songs for the film. They're poppy and sentimental, but work well in the scenes. Download: From Where I'm Standing (mp3).
