Did anyone else see My Morning Jacket perform with some members from the Boston Pops last night on Letterman?
It was exceptional. I wish Television still had something as important as The Ed Sullivan Show for bands to make national debuts ... so you knew you were watching something special, other than the occasional SNL spectacle. 3

I'm going to see Pops in Boston for the 4th and I can't wait! 3:54 PM Raja said... Television tailors to the cultural-lazy. It's a way to consume without vocalizing your own opinions or thoughts. I was under the assumption that services like Vimeo and Flickr are designed to instill a sense of participatory culture. A large problem with today's generation is overall apathy. I find services such as vimeo, flickr, etsy help dissolve this existentialist attitude. Such services remove the overwhelming sensation of contributing something of value because they make contribution/participation part of the consumption process. By participating even on the smallest of scale, users have this notion of importance, contribution, and belonging without really thinking about it and before you know it you have this global village of people passionate about creating, sharing and resonating ideas off each other. Why not plant the seed yourself? Create 'instigators' in Vimeo so users can challenge each other and inspire each other; Cause conversation around ideation without constraint. My startup, FiveLimes, is attempting such a feat in a slightly different space. We are creating a resource that will help individuals change the environmental health of the world without the overwhelming feeling of helplessness by showing that their baby steps towards environmental concern have large implications in the global landscape.
