There's an abundance of mangosteen growing wild in the Philippines, my dad says he used to eat them all the time! The Xango that Jessica is referring to is mangosteen juice, and I bought a bottle from my aunt; it IS pricey, and is said to have medicinal effects, though I'm not sure how true that is. I went to the Chinatown in Montreal just recently, and they were selling some in bags. I'm pretty sure that if you went to Chinatown in NYC, you'd be able to find them there at any of those open markets or asian grocery stores. :) 8:07 PM raul said... Note there are so many different kinds of Mangosteens... In Southern India they taste a bit like vanilla. The ones I had in Thailand where almost like a wisk of strawberry lemon... totally different. And in Malaysia they tasted like something else altogether, but sort of unpleasant. 12:02 AM Post a Comment |
