Worms discovered living on whale bones
South Australian Museum via CNN: The jaw was covered with a "beautiful red carpet" Vrijenhoek recalled. That wasn't surprising because many marine worms are red, he said, but when they got the bones to the surface they knew immediately they were dealing with something totally different. Weekend Wedding
Back from Fort Wayne for the weekend -- Kevin and Amy's wedding was wonderful, and the closing line of my best man's toast earned unexpected laughs. Being back New York is unusual, still feels strange calling it home. But at least I can run down to the corner grocery right now and get a grilled cheese sandwich, and walk around a few blocks to stew over a bad taxi experience I had coming back from Laguardia. $44 cab fare when it should have cost $30. I knew he was screwing me with a circumnventing route -- but I didn't know the exact details of the correct route to challenge him. You live, you learn, you piss and moan. Thinking about

Ernst Road crash kills teen-agers
Two of my sister's classmates were killed in a car crash on Ernst road in Fort Wayne this past weekend. I just read this article in the Journal Gazette and became quite agitated. I always get incensed when I read car crash reports involving teens, mostly because the kids always have first part-time jobs and the reporter always interviews that kid's manager or his non-descript co-worker. And of course the kid has only been working there for 3 months, for 3 hours a day after school, doing a menial task, so there is nothing really substantial of the kid's character to witness. In this case, one of the boy's co-workers said, He was always pretty positive and seemed to be a good kid ... Everybody seemed to like him.
So it seemed. I remember reading one a few months ago about a girl who was struck by a drunk driver. The only quote in the article was given by her manager at Applebee's who attested, She was punctual and easy to get along with -- as though those qualities validate her death as a tragedy. What about her brother, aunt, school teacher, or best friend? I just really miss compassion, but perhaps it's too invasive. Move over OQO?
