New Island Hopes to Be Hong Kong of Korea
James Brooke:
"Over the next 10 years, you are going to see 60 million square feet of office space here, that is a build-out the size of downtown Boston," Mr. Gale said looking across the one-year-old island, its shores lapped by the waves of the Yellow Sea.

We're back!
Pete called 15 minutes before we were supposed to leave, claiming stomach sickness -- so Chris and I had to head out without him. We drove hundreds of miles around the Catskills and the Hudson Valley staking out small mountain towns. We ended the day with a 3 hour sunset hike up the cliffs of the Minnewaska State Park Preserve. Great time. The best part of living in NYC truly can be when you get out.

NYC Restaurant Menus
Pete: Ever been to Lenny's Deli?
Zach: Nope, good?
Pete: Not good. Excellent.
Zach: Where?
Pete: There's one at John Street.
Pete: They might deliver to you
Zach: But I don't know what to get.
Pete: The Roast Beef.
Zach: No, the homecooked turkey with cranberry sauce ... I found their menu online.
Pete: Mmm, Lenny's. Sooo Good.

Neat.

Thanks MenuPages.com! 4352 Manhattan menus and counting.

Morning Afters

The fun thing about NY night spots is that there are dozens of photo services floating around, photographing you and your friends. After they photograph you, they slip you a card with a URL where you can sign-on to see the photos the next day. I have started to accumulate a folder of these pictures, because they are great momentos and usually serve as sources of embarassment (in more cases than not, we have had more drinks than we should). So, this pic was from Friday night, at a place on Broadway called Strata. Fom left to right, Me, James, Josh, and Chad. All looking looking obnoxiously like those "New York dudes".

The Digital Life Shirt

My most recent artistic phase revolved around the concept of Digital Life ... and it just seemed natural to translate that imagery to a t-shirt, since that is what my friends and I do for a living. This kind of shirt is a first on Busted Tees, which until now has only sold funny shirts. We are beginning to experiment and stray from our norm with this one. We printed a limited run of 72, and I humbly hope that my friends will swoop them up first -- this may be the only quantity we print depending on how well they sell. If you are interested, you may purchase the life shirt online. Some more information: They cost $15.99 + S/H and are printed on Gildan 100% cotton shirts and will shrink. I wear a small. Let me know what you think ...

Into the woods ...

I attended an elven wedding yesterday, in the middle of the woods, in Rhode Island. 50-60 full costumed friends were in attendance to witness Rjyan and Roby's ceremony. It was a most memorable of unions.

The ceremony itself was magical. First, the bride and groom walked to the center of the gathering from opposite ends of the woods, each completely shrouded and unable to see each other. They were guided by a sibling. Here, friends read poems to them, before they were escorted away, out of the woods. During this time, while we were all waiting for them to return – 3 people on stilts emerged down a path and made all of us circle together and hold hands. We sang and danced, in honor of Ryan and Roby. Finally, after about 15 minutes, Rjyan and Roby returned from their journey, dressed in the most handsome of outfits – Ryan in a cream suit, and Roby in a wispy dress. They moved inside our circle and kneeled down together. A friend approached them, and braided a large strand of their hair together and attached balloons. Then, she cut the strands, and we all walked out to a clearing in the woods where Rjyan and Roby released the balloons carrying their lock of hair.
