To Buffalo and Back.
I went to Buffalo for the weekend for business, and came away pleasured! My older brother Justin and most of my mother's family live just 30 minutes east of the city in Wyoming County -- centered around the town of North Java. On Sunday, I took a break from work, and toured the countryside finding much to be found.

Last week, demolition crews started tearing up a grimey parking lot across the street from my building. In place, they will construct a 17-story apartment building. I am excited for the development, but 6 A.M. jackhammer wake-up calls are getting old real quick.

Ok, good story.

So! When we were at the TSHIRT FACTORY last week, we looked over our stock of t-shirts and realized how poorly one of our shirts was selling. It was wonderfully intended, but Ricky's shirt, "Bitchin' Summer" (a reference to the popular teen drama, The O.C.) had only sold 19 out of a few hundred over the period of 3 months. With pursuits of hilarity in mind, we pulled all the shirts from our warehouse and discontinued selling the shirt online. Josh and Ricky then packaged the shirts neatly into LARGE shopping bags and drove them over to a local mall. They carried the bags inside and cooly walked into OUR FAV store, Abercrombie. Casually, they plodded around the store before finding their way to the HILARIOUS TSHIRTS table. Within moments, they had cleared space on the table by moving the shirts that were already there, and replacing the space with dozens of our duds! Trying hard to keep a straight face, Josh and Ricky high-fived and walked out of the store. In the picture above (taken by Ricky's cameraphone), you will notice our light-blue shirts in the top left, and bottom right.

Thursday and Friday: Jakob, Josh, Ricky, and I took a train down to Baltimore to visit the facility where our t-shirts are made. The experience deserves a photo essay, but another day, when it isn't so fresh outside. Right now, I just really want to go take a book, wrapped up in a scarf, and sit on the steps of some grand building.

Here's a random three from the embroidery room:

Southland Tales
Richard Kelly, director of Donnie Darko, is behind a new film called Southland Tales set to be released in 2005. IMDB details the plotline:
A musical/comedy set in 2008 where a three-day heatwave in Los Angeles culminates in a huge Fourth of July party.
Stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Seann William Scott, and Jason Lee.

I only take of the film because of its most stellar poster tagline: The internet is the future.

To mix up the work day a little bit, Jake, Josh, Rick and I got dressed up in our finest Fall hiking garb and worked our way up to Times Square complete with camping gear. We like to change our surroundings, to sit quietly, observe people, and toss around the clickings in our clickers. Along the way, a camera crew stopped to interview us about a possible Draft for the Iraqi situation.

Ollabelle
Ollabelle opened for Ryan Adams last night. Really enjoyed them.

Ryan's show was fantastic, though he was obviously too stoned/drunk -- but it made for endearing chit-chat inbetween songs. ie. He went off on a tangent about how he can only eat sushi after a bong hit, because it becomes less weird and better resembles 'space food.'

He also got lost on the subway on his way to the show.

He played a new song that I really felt good about, called "I Will Learn to Love." He said he expects to release two albums simultaneously. One acoustic, one with backup.

He surprised everyone with a cover of the Strokes' "Last Night'. It struck me how versatile a single song is, and how differently it can be performed and consequently provide different meaning.

His encore was much appreciated, coming back to play "New York" and my favorite, "Come Pick Me Up."
