Fa la la la la!
We had a grandiose night planned! All would meet for authentically delicious tacos in midtown, and then walk over to Rockefeller Plaza for the All-American event of lighting the city's landmark tree. The mexican was great and THEN THINGS TURNED SOUR! The police baracaded all possible entries to the plaza as far as 4 blocks away. TOO MANY PEOPLE. Smooshed and cold, we imposed upon Brandt's uptown apartment and watched Clay Aiken and Jessica Simpson present the 'ole tanenbaum on TV -- FOLLOWED BY AN EPISODE OF BIGGEST LOSER. Ouch. Really though. It was a real treat of a night. I had fun. HERE ARE SOME PHOTOS:

A Master of Creative Anachronism
My new favorite Lower East Side restaurant, Freeman's, was featured in the Times. It has gained much liberal fame as of late, due to circulating stories that the Bush daughters were turned down when they arrived for dinner recently. The maitre d' supposedly told them to come back in four years.

I was there last week with Ricky, and new friend Jessica when she confronted a waiter about the rumored Bushtwins incident.

While waiting for them to return ...

So -- I am back from Fort Wayne, Indiana, where I spent my Thanksgiving with Friends and Family alike. Here I sit now, in New York, alone in the Apartment as my roommates are still traveling back from Baltimore. I have taken the solitude as an opportunity to do some much needed Indiana-guerilla-decorating with nostalgic items I brought back from home. Now, you must understand, that my obsession with Indiana and its certain rise to an independent Republic is tactfully regarded as 'cute' by my roomies, but I surmise that they actually look down upon such as a waste of my time. To bolster their morale, I have hung an Indiana flag on our living room wall (which we were reserving for a large piece of Art), with a complimenting sign that majestically reads "Please Genuflect." They will certainly love this.

I placed a glorious book entitled "Fort Wayne: City of Spirit" on the coffee table -- surely to be noticed and compulsively read by my roommates.

Vision or mirage?
News Sentinel:
Imagine you're in downtown Fort Wayne 20 years from now. You're sitting on the deck of a riverfront nightclub built where Historic Fort Wayne used to be, enjoying dinner and a jazz band as you look south across the St. Marys River at the city's skyline.

After thoughts.
Jason Kottke has a great post entitled How George Bush won the Election. My favorite paragraph:
Half the country is not stupid. We're all stupid. We're convinced several times a day to do things that aren't in our best interests. We work too hard. We're drinking, eating, medicating, and smoking ourselves into early graves. We overextend ourselves on credit. We knowingly stay in emotionally or physically abusive relationships. We let television raise our children. We're deliberately mean and nasty to people we don't like or agree with. We learn science from the Bible. We stay silent when speaking out would help someone. We fear the future. We fear death. And we're lazy about our beliefs and convictions and we let the Democratic and Republican Parties dictate the political agenda in America by pushing our emotional buttons. Red, blue, black, white, brown, yellow, purple, and retina-burning yellow-green...we all share the blame.
