Maximum Starbucks density
Justin Blanton notes that he's got 43 Starbucks within a 5-mile radius of his apartment and now he's looking for the highest concentration.I've got 155 within 5 miles of my building, while my parents in Fort Wayne luckily only have 1 in their radius. Ricky's list of complaints to Josh Schwartz, creator and writer of The O.C., is dead-on.
Yeah, I watch the show too ... So what? Snow Storm!
A fantastic blizzard is marching through New York.I have lived most of my life in bitterly miserable and wintry places (ie. Fort Wayne IN, Buffalo NY), so accumulating snow is nothing novel -- but this weekend's storm is particulary interesting in the way it has converted New York's landscape and successfully challenged the city's ego in one sweeping front. While shops are open and the subway continues to slide up and down the underground, the streets are empty except for a few fareless cabs delicately maneuvering and the particulary brazen streetgoers searching for an open video store. The City that never seems to stop (or sleep) is countered, and most people stare blankly at all of the whiteness wondering just what they are going to do -- since they can't do it quickly. I for one wish I had a sled, cross-country skis, or a bunch of friends willing to play capture the flag in the streets downtown. Labels: Fort Wayne Moonlighters
Now two friends of mine are contributing writers to Jake Dobkin's -ist empire. Today, Youngna dishes out praise to little local eatery for the Gothamist, and across the pond Alexandra is covering the Annual London Art Fair for the Londonist.

What is a CableCard?
CableCard is an interface for digital TV that lets you plug your cable line directly into your TV set without the need for a set-top box. It's about the size of a thick credit card, and fits into a special slot built into digital TVs and a growing number of peripheral devices, such as a newly announced version of TiVo. via ZD Net.
Last Night at the Film Forum
Saw Machuca last night with Chris. It is a story of two boys who wrangle with their social divide in the context of the Chiliean coup of 1973. I was impressed, and left eager to see more by Director Andrés Wood.
Also, I perked at the preview of Jean-Luc Godard's Maculine Feminine: a film about Paris, Sex, and the Pepsi Generation. New Postal Service Video

Justin Hall's breakdown
His recent video (74 Mb) is honest, neurotic, narcissistic ... and completely fascinating to me.

I registered with 43 Things.
Relatively Large, Mysterious City
New York photographer Michael Cosentino was flying to Las Vegas from JFK when below him he saw a 'mystery snow covered city'. So mysterious, and so remarkably beautiful from high above, he photographed it. The resulting picture is amazing.
He pleads in the photo description: I've be racking my brain trying to figure out which relatively large city this is. The photo was taken on 12/24, and I estimate we were somewhere between central Pennsylvania and the Mississippi River. It looks an awful lot like Pittsburgh but it doesn't quite match up. Is this your town? Please help! Sir, it is indeed my town. My illustrious hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana. And I cherish that photo. I posted a comment on the photo page assuring Mr Cosentino that Fort Wayne being a "Mystery City" is probably the sexiest thing that has ever happened to it. Thanks to Youngna for pointing out the picture to me.
The Threadless redesign is pretty slick.

Middle class: "Around 1980, when asked what level of personal income would qualify as middle-class, George H. W. Bush replied: $50,000. In fact, only 5 percent of the U.S. population was making that level of income at the time."

![]() Hi, I'm Zach. I grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated from Wake Forest. After college, I moved to Manhattan to get serious about a company I ran with friends. We sold it to Barry Diller's InterActiveCorp in 2006. I just wrapped up with a project I co-founded called Vimeo and left CV to focus on being a twenty-five year old. I have another blog called Copy and Taste, where I post about learning to cook. I live in Brooklyn now.
