Ladies and Gentlemen, Sufjan Steven's backup singer Katrina Kerns

So, like many, I thought I was in love with Sufjan Steven's backup singer and xylophonist Katrina Kerns -- or, like I said, at least I thought.

I didn't even know her name, until last night when my interest was stroked at Katie Deedy's birthday party (which, btw, was quite a carnival -- the only thing I remember vividly was climbing to the top of a young tree outside Clem's and hearing a branch snap, causing me such deep remorse that I promised then and there to return a week later to plant another tree near it. I will do this in 6 days.). Anyway, at KTDD's party, I talked to Janelle about my infatuation with The Backup Singer (I would only make this a topic of conversation with Janelle, because she, of course, is in love with Sufjan and understands exactly what I am feeling). She told me her name was Katrina (Janelle has a cousin or friend who is friends or cousins with the bugle player in Sufjan's band). Anyway, Janelle continued to say that Katrina is a Ford model and that she probably isn't dating Sufjan, mostly because there are rumors that he is gay, which I don't believe and think were probably spurred by the hordes of insecure boyfriends of girls, like Janelle, who do indeed love Sufjan more than them. At the news of her possible singledom, I was lifted by clouds, and, considering the few pints of PBR I had thrown back, calling Ford to get her details made PERFECT SENSE last night ...

Good thing I didn't call?

Janelle followed up with an email this afternoon to pass along a link to a video of Katrina talking. I perked at the thought!!! But, it took only a few moments of watching before my balloon of joy was pierced by an arrow of sorrow. Just watch for yourself! Is she a little slow? No no no -- the question was really really hard!!!
Would you have gotten into the industry if it weren't for Model Search America?
If I were I her, I would have had my publicist on the phone just seconds after the interview ended, demanding to know why the questions weren't approved in writing BEFORE the Q and A. Jesus Christ! How personal can those SO-CALLED VIDEO JOURNALISTS get?

+++

Anyway, Mom and Dad, she's really cute, and so nice. You'll like her.

Update: I just read this a month after posting it, and I can't get over how much of a jerk I seem. Really, this was just an amateur's attempt at a ha ha funnny thing. I realize she was awkardly cornered into taping that promo ... But, it sure makes good material for a roasting!

Pitchfork gives The Spinto Band's Nice and Nicely Done a 7.3. The neatest thing about the review is that it was written by Marc Hogan, who contributed to Crazewire, a music site some buddies (Will and Forrest) and I made-for-fun a few years ago.

Currently installing imeem. Has anyone else used it?

Update: It is very neat. Well developed, intuitive, and surprisingly comprehensive. I currently have a crush on this software.

Kunal and I watch The OC: Season One one episode at a time while taking breaks from late-night working. Kunal, who is new to the show (it's my 2nd time through), is now very involved and spent some time the other night doing IMDB research. He noticed that the main character, played by Benhamin McKenzie, has a supporting role in Phil Morrison's Junebug. My only reason for mentioning any of this that when I saw the trailer, I noticed Pilot Mountain, and after checking IMDB I confirmed that it was filmed in Winston-Salem, my college town.

Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth was also filmed there.

This kind of thing happens all the time ... only in NYC.
Josh forwarded me Elsewares, a great online store selling unique art & design goods. I quickly became excited because their site design is slick and does a great job of organizing a variety of different products beyond t-shirts -- something we would eventually like to do with Defunker.

ANYWAY, I click to the about page only to find that they work out of the 3rd floor in a building only 200 yards away from my front door! THEN, I gave them call to ask if they wanted to hang out. SO NOW, I am grabbing a sandwich with Ryan next week. The advantages of proximity and networking in this city are unrivaled!
