Nathan Gotsch (3:09:33 PM): it's like asking a porn star if they want to hookup.
Nathan Gotsch (3:09:48 PM): Porn star: "Yeah, I don't know...I kind of want to get a sandwich."

The Lieutenant of Inishmore

After seeing Three Days of Rain a few weeks ago, I've been hesitant to chance $80 to sit through another one of Broadway's sideshows of disappointment. But, I've heard too many good things about The Lieutenant of Inishmore to pass up a ticket to see it.

The show is billed as Broadway's bloodiest, and I confirm that if you like dismemberment, Inishmore is your thing. Here's what's great: If you also like jokes, like I do, you'll love Inishmore twice as much. It combines Tarantino's gore with Monty Python's absurdity to be some of the funniest entertainment since Bring out your dead!.

I recommend it. Tickets are available at Telecharge; I noticed student prices as low as 26 bucks.

Work
During work this week: Wrapping up Vimeo's premium account service, which will offer users buttloads of more storage space.

Quickly after work today: Changed connectedventures.com's frontpage color scheme. The orange was 3 years old and many months past its expiration (The interior pages still need a major overhaul).

Art Auction

Save June 9th because I would love for you to come to the Universal Space Agency's first event: Artist Jen Dunlap and photographer Youngna Park will be hosting an Art Auction at the USA to benefit Printed Matter, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting publications made by artists. Also, consider submitting a piece to be auctioned! Proceeds will be split 1/3 to cover costs of the event, 1/3 to the artist, and 1/3 of proceeds to the charity.

Gothamist has more details, ie. how to submit.

Art or not, count on it being one bitchin' party.

For sale: My first car.

While I was home over the weekend, my mom reminded me how annoyed she is with my car sitting in the drive way (2 years now) since I brought it home from college and moved to New York. Now that I have the Scout in Brooklyn, there's definitely no room for it here. I saw Nick's clip about his Jeep, and it inspired me to put together an introduction with some clips I already had to make this brochure.

How many .com's do you hear of having facilities like this one, especially these days? Phenomenal!

"B*tch, go back to China ..."
Jake and Ricky performed in The Other Talent Show at Mo Pitkins. Jake showcased his talent other than programming: freestyle rapping. To demonstrate, Ricky blindfolded Jake, picked someone randomly from the audience, whispered to Jake one thing about the person, and then Jake unleashed his 'lyrical murder'. He 'killed' three people, and this clip shows one of those 'miracle massacres'.

Note: Offensive, but hilarious.

I'm Reed Fish

I saw I'm Reed Fish last night at the Tribeca Film Festival. It's a feel-good film featuring a unique narrative and perfect casting, making it charming, funny and, ultimately, a joy to watch. Reed Fish stars Jay Baruchel from Undeclared, Alexis Bledel from Gilmore Girls, Schuyler Fisk from Orange County, DJ Qualls from Road Trip, and Katey Sagal from Married with Children.

There is one more showing tonight, 9:30, at AMC Loews on 34th Street.

For more details, including the full cast listing and trailer, see its official festival page.

PS. One character, played by Schuyler Fisk, is a struggling musician -- and in one scene she plays a song she wrote at a bar talent show. I didn't think the actress was singing herself, and I actually thought the voice-over was obvious. But, as it turns out, Schuyler Fisk is an actual singer/songwriter and she made songs for the film. They're poppy and sentimental, but work well in the scenes.

Download: From Where I'm Standing (mp3).

Update: The writer, Reed Fish, is updating his Flickr stream with photo updates from the festival.

The footage is on Vimeo.

Also, they posted an interview with one participant that is particularly good.
